In the 1940’s Pedro Fonticiella was nicknamed “Cuban Pete” by American ball players playing winter baseball in Cuba. Pedro was an okay ball player but he sure could cook. In the 1960’s the Fonticiella family moved to the U.S. Nelson Fonticiella Sr., rediscovered his Grandfather’s recipes in 2000 and an idea was born. Nelson Sr., Nelson Jr. (the NEW Cuban Pete) and Yvonne Henke partnered to launch a food truck in Cincinnati in 2014.On April 2, 2015 the first Cuban Pete restaurant opened its doors.
